November 16th, 2011 - Rabwao Rainwater Project Completed!

The Rabwao Secondary Rainwater Catchment Project has been completed! In total, eight 10,000 liter tanks were installed along with gutters and plumbing for each of the tanks. Check out some of the pictures from the project here.


July 24th, 2011 - RABWAO RAINWATER PROJECT FUNDED!

The Rabwao Secondary Rainwater Catchment Project has been fully funded! There have been so many of you who have come together to make this project an imminent reality. Stay tuned for more updates as construction of this project continues!


July 24th, 2011 - Africa Map Artistry
After the world map turned out well, the school hoped to paint maps that would be more relevant to students studying geography in the upper classes. So, we decided to paint a vegetation map of Africa, fit with deserts, rainforest, mountains, plains, and oceans. The map is about 1.5 meters (about 4.5 feet for those of you not metrically inclined)tall by 1.5 meters wide. Check out the picture below.

 


July 17th, 2011 - Fight Deforestation!
Throughout Life Skills classes on 2010 and 2011, students at Rabwao Secondary consistently recognized that deforestation is a serious problem in Kenya, though they often had a difficult time understanding some of the more abstract ideas of why deforestation is bad and what things that they could do to help fight it. So, the Rabwao Secondary Health Club decided to make signs for the student body, educating them about why deforestation is harmful and what each and every one of them can do in their daily lives.

 

 


April 9th, 2011 - Get Yourself Tested!
On April 5th, three staff members of the Muhuru Bay Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centre made their way to Rabwao Secondary. The results were staggering: Sixty-seven students made the responsible and brave decision to get tested.


 


March 4th, 2011 - Nyangwayo Completion!
On February 14th, 15th, and 18th, the rainwater catchment system at Nyangwayo Primary was completed. You can watch the video posted below (it's posted through Facebook, because we were having some problems with You Tube).


 


February 20th, 2011 - Rabwao Tree Planting
On February 20th, 15 Moringa trees were planted at Rabwao Secondary to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Peace Corps. All trees were donated by the Peace Corps and planted by the students and staff of Rabwao Secondary.

 


December 17, 2010 - Girls Camp Video
It only took four months, but a video has finally been compiled for the girls camp held at Rabwao on August 2nd. In total, 47 girls from Rabwao and Bande Girls Secondary attended where they learned about an array of topics about HIV/AIDs and Life Skills. Check out the video.
