Map Artistry
After the world
map turned out well, the school hoped to paint maps that would be
more relevant to students studying geography in the upper classes.
So, we decided to paint a vegetation map of Africa, fit with deserts,
rainforest, mountains, plains, and oceans. The map is about 1.5
meters (about 4.5 feet for those of you not metrically inclined)tall
by 1.5 meters wide. Check out the picture below.
July 17th, 2011 - Fight
Deforestation!
Throughout Life
Skills classes on 2010 and 2011, students at Rabwao Secondary consistently
recognized that deforestation is a serious problem in Kenya, though
they often had a difficult time understanding some of the more abstract
ideas of why deforestation is bad and what things that they could
do to help fight it. So, the Rabwao Secondary Health Club decided
to make signs for the student body, educating them about why deforestation
is harmful and what each and every one of them can do in their daily
lives.
